HWC Family
Meet Josh, Jessie and Isaiah; the owners of Highwater Camp.
We are outdoor enthusiasts and especially river people. Jessie has been my better half for over 20 years and has been an amazing wife, mother, friend and partner in life. She has helped raise our newly adult son into an outstanding young man. Isaiah is an ambitious kid and is still planning his future. He is a Civil Air Patrol member and has been working on becoming a pilot since he was 12. Its hard to say where he will end up, but I am confident he will make his mark on the world. To say we are proud parents is an understatement.
Life for us has been a series of interesting adventures, depending on perspective. After many years of moving around, surviving a couple of enlistments in the Marine Corps, getting a Life Degree in the School of Hard Knocks, and still working on finishing up a long career in the fire service, the dream of owning a home on a river where our family could gather, hang out, and enjoy the outdoors, morphed into many possibilities.
We purchased this property in November 2021 and after a year or so of fixing the place up, dealing with some flood damage in 2022 and clearing vegetation we soon realized the potential of starting a campground.
In 2023 we hosted a family reunion here and were faced with the reality that many more improvements were still needed, which meant more time and money. Our patience for this new adventure didn’t last long. Being stubborn and somewhat naive, we decided to jump head first into starting a business anyways.
After a bunch of phone calls and paperwork, In September of 2023 Highwater Camp LLC was officially born and in Jan 2024 we were granted our first river operator permits by GRDA.
The learning curve has been steep and we plan to build as we go. The old boot strapping strategy and lets see how it goes technique. As soon as our budget allows, we are planning to build a restroom facility with showers, add a few RV sites, a pavilion, possibly an event barn and offer a few unique things that will help us to stand out in the future.
Its a slow work in progress. Give us some time and watch it grow and improve. We appreciate your grace in this endeavor as we strive to build HWC into a product that will meet or exceed your expectations. Thanks for your patience.
Also, a huge thanks goes out to my brothers, and other family and friends who have continuously helped us turn this place a reality. It would not be possible without their support. They are what truly makes HWC a family operation.
